KMG556 Completes First Delivery After 50,000 Rounds Test!

The First Delivery of the KMG556, Successfully Completing 50,000-Round Tests, Has Been Completed!

In line with the rigorous efforts of KALEKALIP and the demands of the Turkish Armed Forces, Gendarmerie General Command, and Law Enforcement Units, the KMG556 5.56x45mm Light Machine Gun has been designed and developed to enhance firepower at the squad level, create resistance against enemy forces, and elevate operational capabilities in the field. The qualification tests for the KMG556 were successfully completed last year. In September 2024, the first batch acceptance tests were conducted with the participation of representatives from the Presidency of Defense Industries and the Land Forces Command. These tests, including the 50.000-round reliability and durability tests, were performed according to procedures based on the international standard Test Operations Procedure (TOP)-3-2-45 By successfully passing all rigorous evaluations, the KMG556 has earned the title of being Türkiye's first and only indigenously developed and qualified 5.56mm machine gun to enter the Turkish Armed Forces' inventory.

KMG556: Superior Performance and Durability in the Field

Certified to perform in challenging field conditions, the KMG556 has proven its durability by successfully completing the Qualification Tests comprising 34 rigorous evaluations in line with NATO standards. During these tests, the system's operational life of 50.000 rounds and barrel lifespan of 15.000 rounds were assessed. Various environmental conditions, including high temperatures, low temperatures, high humidity, icing, mud, dust, and chemical exposure, were simulated to measure the gun's reliability and resilience under harsh scenarios. Its cold hammer-forged and hard chrome-plated barrel technology not only positions the KMG556 as a domestic product but also as a competitive asset on the global stage.

Innovative Design and User-Friendly Ergonomics

Developed with the engineering prowess of KALEKALIP, the KMG556 offers a user-friendly design, both ergonomically and operationally. Features such as a quick-change barrel, telescopic stock, adjustable cheek rest, and ambidextrous usability provide flexibility tailored to user needs. Weighing 7.8 kg with a firing rate of 750-950 rounds per minute, it ensures mobility alongside powerful fire support on the battlefield. The STANAG 4694/M1913 Picatinny rail system on the weapon is compatible with all NATO-standard accessories and optics. With its lightweight belt-fed mechanism, the KMG556 is designed as a crucial solution for both open field operations and urban combat scenarios. Additionally, its integrated bipod and detachable foregrip allow personnel to quickly adapt to diverse operational conditions.

Successful Delivery

KALEKALIP has successfully completed the first delivery of the KMG556 to the Turkish Land Forces Command following the 50.000-round batch acceptance tests. This milestone reflects Türkiye's capabilities in local production within the defense industry and significantly contributes to the country’s independence in defense technologies. The inclusion of this weapon in the Turkish Armed Forces' inventory will play a critical role in enhancing operational efficiency and supporting personnel in the field.b

New Models on the Horizon

In addition to the KMG556, development and verification processes for other models, including the compact KMG556CL with its folding stock and shorter barrel for superior mobility, as well as the high-powered KMG762 chambered in 7.62x51mm, are nearing completion. By the end of 2024, the full lineup of machine guns is expected to be ready for deployment across all users.
